I am Michael Roberts, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years experience of working in automotive engineering design, development, manufacturing and after-sales, specialising in quality related aspects. My experience has been gained working directly for a number of Automotive manufacturers, from a small start-up development company to global corporations.

Employment History and Positions Held:

2013 to 2018 Quality Engineer, Alexander Dennis Ltd. Responsible for the design and manufacturing quality of hybrid and conventional diesel bus chassis and mechanical systems.

2011 to 2013: Associate Lecturer, University of Surrey. Responsible for engineering undergraduate design groups and final year projects including marking and assessment.

2011: Parts Quality Engineer, Rolls Royce Motor Cars. Responsible for quality verification and problem resolution of purchased production components for the Goodwood produced Rolls Royce models.

2009 to 2010: Product Acceptability Engineer, Clean Power Technologies Ltd. Key role working within a small R&D company (14 people) developing and commercialising innovative heat recovery technologies for international power generation and transportation applications

2008 to 2009: Technical Service Engineer, Renault UK Ltd. Sole responsibility for the reporting of engineering concerns of Renault cars and light vans identified in the UK market to the global Renault engineering quality organisation

2006 to 2008: Service Engineering Information, Honda Motor Europe Ltd. Monitoring and analysis of all market concerns on Honda cars throughout the European markets from an after-sales perspective

1998 to 2006: Project Engineer, Design Quality, Honda Research and Development Europe (UK) Ltd. Responsible for analysis of design related concerns on Honda cars reported from the European market, sole R&D representative in combined sales, engineering and design team project to improve quality of Swindon produced cars

1993 to 1998: Technical Service Engineer, Dennis Specialist Vehicles. Providing technical support to operators of Dennis Buses, Coaches and Fire vehicles, investigation of service problems, implementing and monitoring vehicle updates and modification campaigns

1991 to 1993: Graduate Engineer, International Automotive Design. Engineer working on various vehicle design and development projects.
